What is a compartment pressure test?
A compartment pressure test measures the pressure within muscle compartments.
Why might you need a compartment pressure test?
This test may be required if you have activity-related lower limb pain, especially pain that does not respond to conservative management.
What will the test results indicate?
From this test, we can determine whether you have Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome and recommend the right method of treatment. Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome is when the sheath around your calf muscle is too tight and creates discomfort or pain when you walk or run.
What should you bring to the appointment?
- All relevant imaging including films and reports
- Blood test results
- A referral from your GP or medical specialist
- Exercise attire (shorts, t-shirt, running shoes)
Is a referral required?
Patients require a valid GP or medical specialist referral for a compartment pressure test.
Can I claim this service as an extra on my health insurance policy?
Compartment pressure test sessions are not covered by private health insurance.
