Bio
Katie Palmer is a highly qualified Musculoskeletal Practitioner with experience treating clientele across Australia and the Asian region. As a specialist in myotherapy and musculoskeletal pain management, Katie offers a comprehensive approach to her clients by using various methods of diagnostics to assess and understand the cause and effect of pain/mobility restriction whether caused by sport, injury, accident or occupational overuse.
Katie’s particular area of focus includes trauma and injuries associated with the neck, shoulder, elbow, TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunctions), back & hip.
During her career, Katie has worked extensively with individuals suffering all stages and degrees of pain through assessment, treatment and rehabilitation and collaborated with several multidisciplinary Sports Medicine Practices based in Melbourne (Australia) and Hong Kong (Asia region). Additionally, she has been a part of the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of athletes, professional and amateur, from the following sport disciplines:
Golf – Pro-Golfers on the Australasian & European Tours, Club Golfers,
AFL – Australian Football League with Melbourne and St Kilda Football Clubs
Basketball – National Basketball League
Cricket – Australian Cricket Team
Rugby – Hong Kong Rugby Union
In 2023, Katie returned to her home of Melbourne, bringing with her expertise from almost 20 years of working in the global hub of Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong Katie was involved in the management of clients with severe & chronic long-term pain by collaborating with teams of leading global orthopedic surgeons and pain specialists. As such, in recent years she has specialized in using ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) as a revolutionary tool to treat long term tendon injuries such as tennis elbow and other musculoskeletal injuries.
Katie is regularly invited by Sports Clubs and Associations to present on topics ranging from posture, performance, injury prevention and specific injury rehabilitation.
These days Katie and her family live in the southern suburbs of Melbourne and enjoy the sporting lifestyle Melbourne offers whenever possible.
