What is real-time ultrasound?
Real Time Ultrasound (RTUS) is a tool that is used to look at the muscles inside your body from the outside.
How does RTUS work?
RTUS provides a moving image of your muscles, so our physios can assess which muscles should be working and whether you are activating them correctly.
By having immediate visual feedback, RTUS can be used as a training tool to help you identify and strengthen muscles, leading to a better understanding of how to activate them.
What conditions can RTUS help to treat?
RTUS helps health professionals to see how your muscles are functioning so they can diagnose and treat conditions such as:
- Acute or chronic lower back pain
- Poor posture
- Incontinence
- Spinal and abdominal post-surgical rehabilitation, including c-sections
- Abdominal pain
- Sciatica
- Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Health
- Pregnancy back pain
- Pelvic instability
- Hip pain
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
