Bio

Jen is our Women’s Health Physiotherapist and one of our Clinical Exercise Physiotherapists.
She completed the Lifecare Clinical Exercise Training (formerly known as Pilates) many years ago and is now the co-ordinator of this intensive instructor training program, which is offered to our Physiotherapists.

Jen has completed post graduate study in Women’s Health Physiotherapy at Curtin University, as well as a Professional Certificate in Conservative Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse through the University of South Australia, which, alongside current evidence-based practice, involves the use of vaginal support pessaries in the management of vaginal prolapse. This management is part of a shared care model, as involvement of the woman’s GP or specialist is very important.

In our clinic, Jen’s caseload includes women who are experiencing:

She also sees women during pregnancy and postnatally for any of the above problems, as well as those which may be specific to these times in a woman’s life.

Early in pregnancy is a great time to make an appointment to address any concerns and to commence pelvic floor muscle training, which has shown to be important in preventing bladder problems further down the track. Advice with respect to other forms of exercise is something which women are often seeking and indeed many of them are interested in starting our Clinical Exercise sessions.

Postnatally, Jen sees women to assess their pelvic floor and abdominal function, among other things and then is able to give guidance on return to exercise.
