Having graduated from Southern School of Natural Therapies, Fitzroy, in 2007. Jason has an extensive history in private practice.
This has given Jason exposure to differing physical conditions and a substantial knowledge bank to draw upon when treating patients.
His treatment philosophy centres on improving patients’ immediate needs and educating and supporting patients to minimise reoccurring events.
Jason will spend the necessary time assessing, educating, treating, and providing the skills needed from the patient to assist in their own improvement.
His treatment centres around manual therapy techniques, but where clinically indicated will utilise dry needling, cupping, stretching and exercise-based rehabilitation.
Jason’s extensive sporting history and achievements in officiating at the highest level in Australian Rules Football and has competed at international endurance mountain biking competitions.
This places Jason in a unique situation in guiding patients to achieve their best not only physically on competition day but also assisting patients in the build-up to their goal event.
Along with competing success comes the risk of injuries and Jason has not been amiss of these having endured many injuries, some minor and some with significant debilitating effects.
With these experiences Jason has developed a strong sense of empathy in understanding the physical and mental hurdles that these pain conditions can possess.
With this, Jason has developed strong connections with patients that have to endure lifelong health conditions, and he then focuses on individualised treatment interventions towards providing a care platform that is goal orientated to assist in improving pain management in performing daily activities for his patients.
His interests include:
- Acute presentation musculoskeletal injuries
- Aiding in reducing and managing pain associated in daily activities
- Postural based pain
- Physical performance, maintenance and preparation
- Managing chronic life limiting conditions
- Exercise based rehabilitation
- Bike fits
Jason works in our Woodend, New Gisborne and Latrobe St clinics.
Outside of Backfocus you will find Jason chaperoning his 2 boys around the country to athletics tracks and long weekends and holidays camping with friends and family in the outer reaches of the Victorian High Country.
